EMDR Therapy
Unlock lasting healing through EMDR, a powerful approach to overcoming trauma and reclaiming peace.
At our practice, we are committed to helping you heal from past emotional wounds and traumas, and EMDR therapy can be a powerful tool on this journey.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized, evidence-based therapy designed to help people process and heal from distressing memories, life experiences, and other emotional challenges. It works by guiding the brain to reprocess distressing memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact.
The benefits of EMDR are that it is non-invasive and doesn’t require extensive discussion of the trauma. It also works relatively quickly for many compared to traditional talk therapy. Certainly, every client and their circumstances are unique, but 6-12 sessions is quite common with some clients needing more. Lastly, EMDR is suitable whether you are experiencing an acute concern or something more long-term.
Common concerns we treat where EMDR may be a good fit include: birth trauma, having a child who requires significant medical attention, attachment wounds and childhood trauma, traumatic bereavement, unresolved grief and loss, victim of abuse or trauma, and academic or work-related failures.
Through EMDR, we'll work together to empower you to heal, grow, and reclaim your peace of mind.

What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR works by gently guiding you to recall a troubling memory while focusing on a series of eye movements, sounds, or taps. This process helps your brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional charge and allows you to feel more at peace.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn’t require you to go into deep detail about the trauma. Instead, it helps you to change the way it affects you now, empowering you to move forward with greater emotional freedom.
If you’ve been struggling to move past distressing experiences, feel present and safe in your current life, EMDR can offer a path to healing in a safe and supportive environment.

Yes, therapy is highly effective in helping individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of mental health and emotional challenges. While this is a good thing, there are important factors to consider including finding the right treatment approach that matches the concerns, fit between client and therapist, client commitment, and having patience for the process.

The duration of therapy can vary widely from person to person and depends on several factors, including an individual’s specific concerns, the type of therapy being used, and the level of engagement.
